New Balance is going in on distressed treatments for its latest batch of 1906 series releases. On the heels of a New Balance 1906R featuring scuffed midsoles, we’ve unearthed three New Balance 1906Us that deliver a comparable aesthetic.
All three pairs share the same defining quality, that being brown, dirt-like detailing on the lateral side of the midsole. Given the New Balance 1906U is the utility-inspired member of the tech runner series, the distressed applications are more than fitting. While different from the aforementioned 1906R, the same exact feature was utilized on recent “Inkwell” and “Olive Juice” New Balance 1906As.
As for the colorways, the most eye-catching is a white, black, and “Mint” arrangement featuring a purple mesh base. There’s also a high-contrast black and white option, as well as a greyscale look featuring some tasteful blue accents. To the uninitiated; the New Balance 1906U differs from the standard 1906R with a different, more durability-focused layering scheme. Most of the overlays are cut from leather, save for perforated suede panels over the medial side of the toe.
No concrete release information has been announced at the time of this writing, but all three pairs are expected to land Spring/Summer 2025 for around $155. See official images below if you’re gunning for one.
