According to The Smithsonian, one in four cowboys were black. Yet in the oft-romanticized Western culture and history we never really hear or see about this specific demographic. Nike SB could be touching on this forgotten group for the upcoming Dunk Low release for the 2025 Black History Month collection.
Although previewed earlier via blurry images, the Nike SB Dunk Low “BHM” is clearly in view thanks to recently uploaded photos by @yankeekicks. Marking by a striking Tourmaline green upper, the design continues via the Monarch orange piping, Baroque Brown heel, and a red outsole. “NIKE” branding on the heel are stylized via a single rope, perhaps mimicking the lassos used by cowboys to wrangle bulls. Check the shoelaces and you’ll see a similar detail.
Often seen on cowboys boots, Sonora style embroidered designs sit on the heel on the heel with a Western star sitting right in the middle. The insoles depict a silhouette of a cowboy against a yellow back-lit landscape; the same imagery is featured on the included handkerchief which reads the message “What’s gonna happen is gonna happen.”
Release date information is currently unknown, but a February release seems likely. An MSRP is expected to be $135.
