Sometimes, all you can hope for is to land on the podium. As a model, there’s a strong argument that the New Balance 1906R remains the gold standard, but for its latest summer edition, it’s looking to humbler “Bronze” tones.
Built on a flush arrangement of brown/grey mesh and hits of the shimmering titular hue in the leather overlays above, it’s a darker look for the silhouette than we’re used to overall, but still close to the metallic fare that’s brought it such notoriety. Though select inline looks have stepped into more colorful directions, this sort of aesthetic remains the 1906R’s bread and butter, an unabashed embrace of Y2K aesthetics. Even if the earthy undertones at play might make this colorway scream autumn more than anything, it should make an easily worn addition to the rotation regardless of seasonal appeal.
The New Balance 1906R “Bronze” is trickling out to retailers now, as you’ll see via the in-hand shots included below. While no concrete date has surfaced just yet, expect a wider NB.com release in the coming weeks, likely clocking in with the usual $155 retail price.
