The design of the 1906R simplified the sole unit, removing full length N-ergy gel and reducing its presence at the heel. As with many New Balance models, the silhouette gained extra buzz when Teddy Santis’ Aime Leon Dore label chose it for a collaborative capsule collection. The metallic overtones and neutral accents of that pair would go on to inform much of the general releases that brought back to consumers in earnest.

However, some of the most well-known pairs of the shoe like the three-pronged Action Bronson New Balance 1906R collection and Salehe Bembury New Balance “Heat Be Hot” go in a far more expressive direction with the model.
