With the two Air Jordan 1 pairs already teeing off, we’re smack in the middle of the “Rare Air” collection, soon to bring the Air Jordan 4, Jordan 3 and Jordan 11 into the OG-facing capsule. Though the AJ3 is next up on the slate, the latest update in the capsule brings one of the calling cards of the AJ4 release into the spotlight: differing branding across each pair.
Playing with the branding has been arguably the defining feature of all the pairs we’ve seen so far, be it the reversed Nike Air logo on the 3, the creative interpretation of the Wings logo on the 1, or an already known feature for the shoe at hand, removable velcro patches allowing the wearer to swap between the differing tongue arrangements we’ve seen on the silhouette throughout the years. However, the update today concerns the shoe at rest, as without any tags attached, “Jordan Rare Air” type peeks through the velcro.
Reportedly, 25% will feature the gold lettering shown in the pictures ahead, while the other 75% will sport a more staid white. Though the reasoning for both likely differs, it echos the Undefeated Jordan 4 being set to release in both Jumpman and Nike Air editions, either release evidence of Jordan Brand’s willingness to tack additional particulars onto coveted drops.
The Air Jordan 4 “Rare Air” remains queued up for a July 26th release date, landing with a $215 retail price.
