Nike “What The Kobe” 8 Releases On Mamba Day 2025

One of the more seminal entries in the mismatch series enters the fold.

Nike “What The Kobe” 8 Releases On Mamba Day 2025

Our understanding of 2025 Jordan Releases is pretty set in stone at this stage; many of the biggest drops through the Holiday season are already well-telegraphed or tipped off in some fashion. The other tentpole basketball retro line in Beaverton has arguably overtaken the Jumpman in the closing months, at least in terms of headlines. One of the more monumental Kobe Protro releases now has a set date, as the “What The” Kobe 8 is prepared to headline the Mamba Day 2025 festivities.

Rumors of this pair’s return already hit the newswire this Summer, the concrete date information the biggest update at this juncture. Given this edition’s legendary status, we’re expecting a true representation of what we got in 2023, additionally bolstered by the Kobe line’s faithful re-ups of past shoes like the three-pack of the Kobe 4 “Philly,” Kobe 6 “Italian Camo” and Kobe 8 “Venice Beach” earlier in 2024. However, circling back to original reports surrounding this 2025 retro, note that that this one-to-one replication isn’t entirely guaranteed; early word from source @brandon1an kept the possibility open for a “reimagined” concept.

Though the “What The” motif ran through the Nike Basketball catalog in the early 2010s, thus eventually losing a bit of its luster, the original 2013 pair remains in the upper echelon of Kobe 8s. Tapping into that enduring demand is certainly well-met, and there are few pairs as suitable to bring the Kobe 8 legacy into the new year as the one at hand. The Nike Kobe 8 “What The” is expected to land on April 13th, 2025, with retail currently projected at $180. Check in-hand images of the 2013 pair pictured ahead via collector @la.soles.
