In today’s retro-heavy environment, it’s a widely-accepted truism that any vintage Jordan’s you may be considering pulling the trigger on can likely be acquired for far cheaper if you’re willing to wait for the inevitable bring-back. However, while that may ring true for some of the most venerated properties in the Jumpman’s roster, there’s still a cadre of true “if you know you know” propositions that are lower on the priority list. Unless you can fit in GS sizing, the Jordan 4 “Sand” fits that category to a T, but maybe the Jordan 4 RM “Sail/Khaki” can come close to scratching that itch.
To be clear, the differences in tooling between the parent model and its offshoot mean that this falls short of being one-to-one replication, but the earthy tones foregrounded here nonetheless make the comparison apt in our minds. Though of course the TPU cage takes on “Khaki,” the inner/outer split it creates is additionally enhanced by pairing the suede mudguards and the collar in that tone. Final flourishes on the edges of the outsole complete the shoe, again perfect if you’re unwilling to roll the dice on the 2006 OG, or if you’re just looking for some daily drivers as we look to the heat of Summer.
Speaking of, the Air Jordan 4 RM “Sail/Khaki” should be populating Nike.com and retailer shelves as a part of the Summer shopping season (April to June.) If this edition has really caught your eye, you can keep up with any launch updates via our Jordan Release Dates page. For now, we can report a $150 price tag in women’s sizing.
