adidas has been rolling out a celebratory “City Series” in recent weeks, including a “404 Day” Superstar for Atlanta and “414 Day” capsule by Shake James for Milwaukee. Now making a pit stop on the route between the two, adidas has tapped retailer DTLR for an adidas Superstar inspired by Chicago.
Naturally, the most glaring reference is the Chicago flag. Several flag callbacks appear throughout the design, led by a translucent outsole featuring the city’s skyline in red/blue “CHICAGO” text. The same graphic appears on the left tongue, complemented by flag-inspired insoles and added lace accents featuring the Illinois silhouette. Alternating red and blue leather treatments appear on the heel, the right shoe incorporating a clever “Windy City” graphic for added intrigue. Moreover, as a potential allusion to CTA transit lines, the serrated Three Stripes come with yellow, red, and green edges. The Chicago tribute falls on the Superstar II silhouette, a slightly wider yet practically indistinguishable version of the model.
The DTLR x adidas Superstar II “Chicago” releases in full family sizing on April 18th via the DTLR website, carrying a $110 price tag for adults. Enjoy official images below if these are a must.
