In Milwaukee, there isn’t a more significant figure in sneaker culture than Eric “Shake” James. The Run-DMC affiliate turned activist owns three boutiques and a flourishing relationship with the Three Stripes, regularly convening with adidas on special projects at the intersection of community and sneakers. Therefore, when it comes to Milwaukee’s annual 414 Day, there’s no wonder why he’s the go-to guy for celebrating Cream City through footwear.
Just like Shake’s 414 Day collaboration from last year, the adidas Rivalry Low is the model of choice. Two limited-edition styles are set to release on the area code holiday, led by a blue and yellow colorway inspired by the new “People’s Flag” of Milwaukee (which has yet to officially go into effect). The other is inspired by the old flag adopted in the 1950s, taken with a grey base and blue/red stripes.
Both looks reference Milwaukee’s iconic waterfront with blue waves over the tongue, not to mention yellow cheese-inspired graphics on the tongue tags. Moreover, the collaboration ties in with Shake’s musical roots through matching microphone keychains.
Milwaukee’s annual 414 Day falls on April 14th, but Shake James’ adidas Rivalry Low collaboration will be available exclusively through his store CLICKS on April 12th (in-store and online). The blue colorway is limited to 800 pairs, while the grey style is limited to just 200. In one last clever tribute, retail is set at $134.14. See detailed images below if these are a must.
