The Lewis Hamilton effect is real. As recently reported by SportBusiness, PUMA has seen a whopping 800% increase in its Ferrari merchandise sales since the Formula 1 GOAT left Mercedes. That’s a particularly insane statistic considering Ferrari has long been PUMA’s best-selling motorsport license, with the partnership dating all the way back to 2005. All that indicates that this Ferrari PUMA Speedcat, the German sneaker brand’s first in the Lewis Hamilton era, will be highly sought-after.
PUMA has released several Ferrari Speedcats over the years, most of which stay close to the model’s original red colorway for obvious reasons. This next effort switches this up with white leather, carried by a Ferrari emblem on the heel and debossed “Scuderia Ferrari” on the tongue. The sneaker is tied to the Miami Grand Prix happening on May 4th, complete with custom insoles featuring South Beach-esque pink and blue PUMA logos. Lewis Hamilton is the hands-down face of the PUMA Speedcat, staying loyal to the Pro model on race day throughout his Formula 1 career. Coincidentally, his former team Mercedes-AMG jumped from PUMA to adidas at around the same time he joined Ferrari.
The Ferrari PUMA Speedcat “Miami” is scheduled to release on April 28th for $110 in men’s sizes, a little over a week ahead of the Miami Grand Prix. See official images below if you’re considering copping a pair.
