Portland’s Index continues to reveal pairs of Foamposites that never made it beyond the cutting room floor. This unreleased version of the Air Foamposite Pro comes clad with full glow-in-dark uppers along the lace collar and in the pattern on the upper, leaving us to wonder what could have been.
The aforementioned pattern is quite obviously the iconic elephant print that originated with the Air Jordan 3. If you recall, Nike released an actual Air Foamposite Pro “Elephant Print” way back in 2014, although that pair came attached with a bright pink outsole and no glowing aspect on the upper. This unreleased glow-in-the-dark sample pictured here could have been part of the extensive testing phase considering Nike had yet to release the model with any sort of pattern on the foam-molded body. The only other known pair of Foamposite Pros with non-solid uppers was the infamous “Comic Strip” wear-test sample that never saw the light of day.

Another detail we can’t ignore is what might be considered a defect on the elephant print. Right around where the Swoosh tip ends, you can clearly see a mirror image of the print, solidifying these as a true color test sample of some kind.
With Foamposites back into the mix of things, should Nike consider a “glow-in-the-dark” release of the Foamposite Pro? That might be the only way to secure a pair like this, because Index confirms that the shoes have been sold for $2,500.
