Is the Air Jordan 1 starting to get its mojo back? The “Bred” 85s and most recent Union Jordan 1 were the talk of the sneaker world in February, and Jordan Brand is hoping that momentum can extend down to some of its more lesser-hyped releases. For our purposes, that includes a low-top version of the Air Jordan 1 “Rookie Of The Year” from 2018. New retailer images just emerged ahead of the shoe’s planned April release.
One of many low-tops born from high-tops, the “ROTY” Jordan 1 Low OG impersonates its taller sibling with “Golden Harvest” nubuck, tumbled “Sail” leather, and black treatments on the Swoosh, lining and outsole. It’s inspired by the brown outfit Michael Jordan wore while accepting his NBA Rookie Of The Year award following the 1984–1985 season.
Much like the “Obsidian” Jordan 1 Low OG (releasing in March), the “ROTY” will be a good litmus test to gauge Air Jordan 1 hype. It’s not a hot collaboration or original colorway retro, but it’s not exactly your run-of-the-mill AJ1 Low either. It features the more sought-after “OG” cut for one, and 2018’s “Rookie Of The Year” is widely praised as one of the best non-OG Jordan 1 colorways ever.
After being pushed back from an early January release, the “ROTY” Jordan 1 Low OG is set to arrive April 18th for $140 in men’s sizes. Enjoy retailer images courtesy of KITH below and visit our Jordan Release Dates page to preview more upcoming 1s.
Elsewhere in the Jordan world, raffles for the Jordan 4 SB “Navy” are starting to go live.
