The evidence is right in front of us; New Balance has big plans for the 992 in 2025. Joe Freshgoods is releasing a highly-anticipated “Aged Well” 992 in February, a sequel to his first ever project with the Boston brand, and NB creative director Teddy Santis just teased a potential Aimé Leon Dore collaboration alongside some other goodies.
Some of Aimé Leon Dore’s New Balance collabs look like elevated GRs, but this newly-unveiled set avoids that label entirely. The New Balance 992 features royal blue suede, leather, and mesh up top, complemented by a purple hairy suede backtab and tasteful pops of teal underfoot. Collectively, the three colors work in tandem to produce a playful aquatic vibe reminiscent of 1990s design language. That’s only bolstered by an exposed foam tongue and artificial yellowing across the midsole.
Moving to the foreground of Teddy’s Instagram teaser, we’re hit with a fiery New Balance 1300 consisting of an orange base and pops of yellow. Teddy also shared some 860v2 pictures, including what appear to be samples of the three Aimé Leon Dore 860v2s that went up for pre-order last year.
Santis hasn’t announced release information for any of the teased pairs, or if they’re in fact ALD collabs or part of New Balance’s seasonal “Made In USA” lineup, but we’ll be here to dissect all incoming info.
