“Greige” Takes Over ASICS’ Breakout Star, The GEL-NYC

You were in the squarely in the minority if you didn’t catch someone with the ASICS GEL-NYC on feet in 2024. Aiming to keep the pressure on in the new year, the AWAKE NY-assisted model is stepping into familiar tech runner territory with an upcoming “Greige” overhaul.

The portmanteau pantone is exactly as it sounds; somewhere between grey and beige for the shoe’s suede top layers. While the silhouette is plenty capable of carving its own aesthetic territory, here it relies chiefly on the well-established Y2K tones explored by competitors like the Vomero 5 or New Balance 9060. Filter towards the base to catch notes of chrome and jet black that only cast that concept into further light. All told, it’s a complementary combination, and the expressive hardware of the GEL-NYC still stands front and center in this “Greige” execution.

Look for the ASICS GEL-NYC “Greige” hitting ASICS.com and partnering retails as we enter the bulk of Spring 2025. A $130 retail price is expected.

Elsewhere on the release radar, the Air Jordan 3 “Black Cat” tips off on January 11th, the first domino in a packed Jordan Release Dates 2025 calendar.
