Hiroshi Fujiwara Reveals Fragment Design x Nike Book 1

Update: Only 25 pairs of the Fragment x Nike Book 1 were produced to celebrate the opening of Hiroshi Fujiwara’s new store in Japan.

Original article: Devin Booker’s “Book Club” just got a new member. Fragment Design founder Hiroshi Fujiwara recently shared images of a Fragment x Nike Book 1 on Instagram, hinting at a potential rare collaboration between the Japanese brand and Nike’s performance basketball division.

Emphasis on “potential” in that last sentence. As our regular readers are all-too familiar; the quantity and quality of player edition Book 1s has far surpassed that of GRs since the model’s debut. Neither Fragment nor Nike Basketball have confirmed that the shoe will release, but if it happens to, it would mark the first ever Book 1 collaboration and a rare instance of Fragment touching up a current-era Nike basketball model. Fujiwara and company released long-forgotten Hyperchase and Hyperrev collaborations in the mid-2010s and also worked with the Jumpman on the Jordan 35 in 2020. Other than those efforts, Fragment’s partnership with Nike Inc. has focused almost exclusively on retro product.

As for the shoe at hand, the design plays of the recently released Book 1 “Python” colorway. The upper of the GR remains largely in-tact, with key changes being a blue leather Swoosh, blue and white outsole (as opposed to gum), and Fragment co-branding on the heel and tongue.

As mentioned, is remains to be seen whether the Fragment Design x Nike Book 1 is a PE or queued up to launch publicly. If the latter proves to be the case, know that this article will update with release information over the coming weeks.
