Nike Keeps Up The Air Flight 89 Low Introduction In “Hyper Royal”

When they go high, Nike goes low… at least with some of their legacy silhouettes. The Spizike Low and Air More Uptempo Low elucidate a Beaverton strategy gaining steam in recent months, simply chopping off some of the extra height from archival models to befit an easier lifestyle lean.

The Nike Air Flight 89 is the latest to get in on the action. Though the nubbed collar is gone, many of the original pieces that perfectly display vintage 1980s design language remain, from the toothed lacestay panels at the forefoot, the perforated leather at the quarter, or the sole unit, identical in hardware to the Air Jordan 4. As the “sister model” to Mike’s signature, the Nike Air Flight 89 has a habit of dipping into that Jumpman well, and “Military Blue” (or “Industrial Blue,” depending on who you ask) looms large over this pair.

The Nike Air Flight 89 Low “Hyper Royal” will likely make its way to Nike.com and retailers in Spring of 2025. A $140 MSRP is confirmed.
