This years’ retro of the Nike Air Tech Challenge II “Hot Lava,” easily one of the most influence Swoosh designs of the 1990s, was an instant sellout. Even with new vintage touches, the appetite for the silhouette endured, but it was also far from a given that the Swoosh would follow that release up.

A frequently retro’d edition, the last bring back in 2019 was truly a one-off, succeeded by a “Black Lava” in 2020 before the ATC went radio silent leading up to this year. If you’ve coveted editions of Agassi’s icon beyond the purview of “Hot Lava,” we’ve got welcome news; more OG colorways of the Air Tech Challenge II are on tap for 2025. “Racer Pink” begins the initiative, continuing a dip into the archives with a women’s exclusive look from 1990. The Swoosh rebrands from the original “Fluorescent Pink” and widens the size run, additionally printing the colorway on the new remastered shape and faux-vintage hardware introduced with August’s pair.

With the success of other 90s athletic wear like Deion Sanders’ shoes, the time is absolutely ripe to start another mainline run for Agassi’s kicks, last truly explored nearly a decade ago in 2016. The Nike Air Tech Challenge II “Racer Pink” is currently queued up for a January 31st, 2025 release date with retail set at $150. Watch this page and our Sneaker Release Dates hub as that date approaches for any further updates.
