Deion Sanders Shoes

Deion Sanders, AKA Coach Prime as he’s known now, served as Nike’s signature NFL athlete in the 1990s. His immense popularity during his playing career led to five editions of his Nike Air DT Trainer being released from ’93 to ’98. Though his on-field career ended in the early 2000s, their merchandising deal stayed in place until 2009, when Prime instead inked paperwork to join Under Armour.

As the 2020s started and Sanders became a walking headline as the coach of Jackson State and later Colorado, interest in his sneaker line began picking up once again. As a result, Nike and Sanders revived their relationship towards the middle of 2023. Their renewed partnership immediately paid dividends for Coach Prime’s squad, with Colorado players sharing looks at their PE Deion Sanders shoes, most clad in the jagged sawtooth design of the DT Trainer series.

Those trademark Deion Sanders shoes returned in 2024, the Nike Air DT Max Trainer ’96 coming back in OG fashion. The dawn of the 24-25 College Football season brought additionally colorways; the “Colorado Home” and two “Colorado Away” colorways landed in September, followed by the DT Max ’96 “Falcons” in November.

A couple of the colorways that Sanders himself previewed for the DT Max ’96 are still left unfulfilled, likely coming later in 2025. However, this year’s big headline is the return of the Nike Air Diamond Turf, kicking off with a “Falcons” edition in February. A look inspired by Prime’s Draft Day garb is expected to succeed that shoe later in the year.

Below you’ll find our latest coverage on everything at the cross section of Deion Sanders and the sneaker world, including future retro drops and release dates.
