At this stage, the New Balance 1906R family is easily the company’s biggest bankable asset. Consumer demand for general release pairs remains sky-high, while the collectors and more discerning devotees are well-fed through off-shoots like the New Balance 1906A, New Balance 1906L or the just-unveiled New Balance 1906M. Somewhat forgotten in that mix has been the New Balance 1906U, executing a late year push with looks like the “Dark Olivine” featured here.

Autumnal, naturalistic themes are the major focus with this shoe, a just-adjacent blend of “Linen” light grey, the titular dark olive and clay “Flat Taupe” weaving across the quarter. Indeed, those overlays remain the biggest change from the 1906R proper to this “utility” reimagining, and the additional real estate is utilized well for this smattering of season-appropriate shades. The triangular arrangement displayed within the mesh marks another switch for those with a keen eye, redoubling the outdoorsy appeal of the offshoot that the palette here does so well to execute.
