Add another monster hit from the Air Jordan Retro history to the list of 2025 releases. Jordan Brand is expected to bring back the Air Jordan 12 “Taxi” next year — the first time since 2018.
Worn by Michael Jordan throughout the 1996-1997 season and the first portion of his final year with Chicago, this original Air Jordan 12 colorway is dubbed “Taxi” for the touch of yellow that appears throughout the shoe. It can be seen on the carbon fiber plate embedded in the outsole, on an accent piece on the fore-foot traction pads, and on the heel-tabs. The remainder of the shoe features a white leather upper with monotone stitch lines against the reptile-texture mudguard in black.
The 2025 Air Jordan 12 Taxi is expected to release this Fall/Holiday 2024 season with true-to-original specifications. MSRP is expected at $215. See more in our Jordan Release Dates page.
Air Jordan 12 “Taxi” History
The Air Jordan 12 “Taxi” is arguably the most popular of the AJ12 colors. Originally designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Jordan 12s were inspired by fashionable wing-tip shoes as well as the Rising Sun seen in Japanese iconography.
This specific colorway of the shoes have released on several occasions over the years. It first dropped in late 1996, and later appeared in 2008 as one-half of the Air Jordan 11/12 Countdown Package. The only other time it dropped as a solo act was in 2018 with an MSRP of $190.
