Original article posted August 2nd, 2024: The energy around the Air Jordan 1 has certainly shifted since 2020. That year’s “Mocha” release is honestly emblematic of what the sneaker scene prioritized, Mike’s first signature carrying heavy grey market premiums and the hype around Travis Scott shoes so undeniable that it spilled over onto adjacent yet unaffiliated pairs. [OK, maybe that latter half hasn’t changed all that much.]
Nonetheless, four years later, there’s a chance the Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Mocha” stands as one of the more hotly-anticipated drops on the upcoming calendar. It’s a faithful replication of its predecessor, with a brown suede heel breaking up a palette otherwise carried by black & off-white, leaning on Jordan 1 “Black Toe”-style color-blocking. For what it’s worth, while this is the first time the colorway has landed on a true OG AJ1 release since the pandemic, the palette has been a fixture elsewhere in the catalog like with the Jordan 3 “Neapolitan” and continuing Scott utilization on the Jordan Jumpman Jack.
If you already had an August release date circled, we’ve got some unfortunate news. Retail remains at $140, but the Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Mocha” is now expected on September 21st. August 21st is now tabbed for a stacked slate that includes the Jordan 4 RM “Light Bone,” Jordan 4 RM “Oxidized Green” & A Ma Maniere Jordan 3. In the meantime, enjoy some detailed looks at this pair via the gallery ahead and keep an eye on our Jordan Release Dates hub for any additional updates down the line.
