In a rather surprising move, adidas brought back an archived table tennis shoe from the 1970s, the adidas Tischtennis, earlier this year. Now in an equally intriguing development, adidas taps a familiar collaborator in NAKED Copenhagen for the honor of the model’s first ever collaboration, nearly half a century after its debut.
NAKED’s feminine aesthetic materializes through white lace at the base of the shoe, a sensible choice given that the standard version features an equally breathable open mesh fabric. Matching the essence of the delicate material, NAKED brings an off-white hue to the shoe’s leather tongue, canvas eyelet strips, laces, and lining, comprising a sophisticated, contemporary feel. The stripes and backtab appear in white leather, complemented by grey suede heel and toe panels, while a grippy gum outsole maintains a bit of sport utility underfoot. However, if it weren’t already obvious, NAKED places the Tischtennis firmly in the realm of fashion-forward lifestyle kicks here.
The NAKED x adidas Tischtennis releases August 8th, 2024 for $136 in unisex sizes on nakedcph.com. Pairs will also be available in-store at the brand’s Aarhus, Copenhagen location and new Paris flagship on that date.
