An unofficial nod to the beloved holiday(s) standard.

A few of Devin Booker’s interests are well-known and well-established: the four-time All-Star loves himself a fine wine, a vintage car, a retro camera. However, many may not know that the Book 1 “Nightmare Before Christmas” isn’t just a way to extend the Halloween vibe into the Holiday season, it reflects one of #1’s genuine favorites.

One of Booker’s tattoos, a smirking visage of protagonist Jack Skellington, reveals his appreciation for the Tim Burton animated classic. In kind with that, the character’s stitched smile radiates from the Swoosh on this Book 1. The shoe’s cracked leather foundation carries a double purpose, alluding to the film’s eerie atmosphere and conversely, a layer of freshly fallen snow. If we had one wish with this design, it’d be to inject some sort of pinstripe patterning to round out the theme, but this the 1993 film justice all the same.

Those tapped into all of the looks for the model so far will note the resemblance between this pair and the Book 1 “Halloween” proper, essentially spinning a lighter palette swap of that earlier edition, down to the glow-in-the-dark outsole underfoot. Even if the motif has been touched on before, there’s no denying that the dual holiday concept here makes for a unique Christmas release.

The Nike Book 1 “Nightmare Before Christmas” releases on December 13th, retailing for $140.
