The retro returns a decade later.

adidas Is Bringing Back Kobe Bryant’s Crazy 1 From The 2001 Playoffs

Though the steady stream of Nike’s Kobe 4 and Kobe 8 releases throughout 2024 highlight the Mamba’s centrality in Oregon, the Three Stripes maintains a similar focus on Kobe shoes as well. Their modernistic takes on his legacy via models like the MAD IIINFINITY is one thing, but true retro releases remain a huge factor alongside. True to that initiative, the adidas Crazy 1 “Playoffs” is making its first appearance this year in recent memory, last emerging with a retro back in 2014.

For a player as synonymous with winning as Kobe Bryant, “Playoffs” could truly refer to a dozen seasons, but this shoe was on his feet during the undefeated romp through the Western Conference in 2001. As The metallic mesh that dominates the upper on this shoe is the main attraction, matches by a dark grey sole unit. Traditional black & white notes close out the design on the sockliner and heel, allowing the futuristic design of the adidas Crazy 1 to take center stage given the staid palette at play here.

With Instagram user @thegreat978 sharing official images just hours before this post, full release details remain a mystery. However, this shoe is confirmed to roll out at some point this year- expect a retail price in the region of $150 when it materializes.

Staying with the German giant, the Yeezy Day 2024 restock stole the show on Memorial Day weekend; check the latest on what pairs are coming next.
