The Goddess Of Victory Appears On The Nike Air Force 1 “1972”

Though the true celebration came in 2022, Nike’s 50th anniversary still looms large over their product offerings, with many an opportunity taken to look back to their 1970s debut. It’s manifested this year via the similarly titled “Since 1972” and “1972” series, both honoring the company’s Eugene origins. The latest silhouette to grace the latter is the Nike Air Force 1, now unveiled in its “1972” outfitting.

An “all white Force” serves as the foundation here, but this latest formulation goes wild from there. First things first, the Greek Goddess Nike appears on the heel in a weathered bronze relief that outlines the shape of the “Winged Victory of Samothrace” statue, a Greek classic now displayed at the Louvre. That hue is echoed on the heel tab and via woodsy rope laces. Materially, the Swoosh and tongue swap from leather to mesh, something of a calling card across the “1972” line so far. Closing out in thematic fashion, another hallmark appears in place of the Nike tongue tag, the shoe instead opting for a pronounced Swoosh bubble with a Blue Ribbon Sports-era palette.

The Nike Air Force 1 “1972” will likely materialize in the coming weeks. In lieu of more concrete information, take a look at official images ahead to get ready for when this pair eventually arrives.

In more news out of Beaverton, the Jordan Luka 3 was officially unveiled as the Mavericks get ready for the playoffs.
