The Ninja Turtles x adidas Superstar Comes With Toy Packaging And A Comic Book

Raphael gets his very own adidas Superstar.

The Ninja Turtles x adidas Superstar Comes With Toy Packaging And A Comic Book

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise turns 40 this year, and adidas is celebrating the occasion with an inspired footwear capsule that plays off the adidas Superstar‘s iconic “shell toe” build. Better known for its TV series that ran from 2012-2017, the TMNT franchise first came to light in 1984 via comic book series by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. As such, this delivery comes complete with its very own TMNT comic, special toy-inspired packaging, and familiar franchise callbacks on the shoe itself.

Raphael (aka the red turtle) claims the honor of the capsule’s first soon-to-come Superstar, with red hits taking up the shoe’s three stripes and masked lace dubrae. Pebbled green leather encompasses the base layer in an obvious design choice, while the shell toe ditches its traditional texture in favor of turtle shell-like hexagons. More thoughtful detailing appears on the quarter with debossed “SHELLTOE” text, as well as on the insoles which champion the turtle’s favorite food of pizza.

Fans of the Ninja Turtles will be able to pick these up on March 22nd at adidas.com for an MSRP of $130, likely to be followed by more colorways for the others in the group. Until then, enjoy official images below.
