Part of Nike Sportswear’s “Cult Classics” series, the Linen Air Force 1 s originally dropped back in 2001 exclusively in Japan (known as a CO.JP release) and is largely considered to be one of the greatest Air Force 1s of all-time. A Brief History
The Air Force 1 “Linen” originally released in 2001 exclusively at shops in Japan as part of the “CO.JP” aka “Concept of Japan” series. At the time, Nike wasn’t quite confident that classic shoes like the Air Force 1 and Dunk would sell in mass quantity; this was largely due to consumer demands of innovation and technology in sneakers. Just a limited number of pairs were created, which eventually led to a shortage that would directly increase the value of pairs. Combined with the breathtaking colorway (which has been oft-mimicked), the Air Force 1 “Linen” is considered a “grail” to sneakerheads.
In December 2016, Nike teamed up with Kith to re-release the Air Force 1 “Linen” exclusively at their new Kith Miami flagship store. That was the last known release of the Linen Air Force 1s.
After news broke in September of 2023, Nike later confirmed in Spring 2024 that the tan/pink Air Force 1s would indeed make a return. They will finally be available on June 13th for $135 at the stores listed above.
