Known just as well for his Chef Curry monicker as his given name, Stephen Curry’s cooking nickname was brought to the world’s attention by Drake and cemented by one of the four-time Champion’s most divisive color blockings. Before the wave of rocking “Dad shoes” was regarded as trendy, the inspired Curry 2 “Chef Curry” was initially ridiculed for its simplistic all-white base and resemblance to the yard work-associated silhouette.
Advised by his agent and Warriors GM Bob Myers to not wear the colorway in Game 4 of the 2016 Finals due to concerns over past ankle injuries and the low cut of the UA Curry 2, Under Armour is now taking a moment seven years later to clap-back at the sneaker community’s mockery with a toasted twist on the former butt of many jokes.
Combining the renovated cushioning of the Curry Flow 10 with Curry’s second signature silhouette, the UA Curry 2 FloTro returns to the alienating cooking inspiration with a much more concentrated effort toward storytelling. Resembling the appearance of a marshmallow being roasted over a campfire, the once-blank white silhouette embarks on an aesthetic mirroring the burnt black film that collects around the fluffy white treat when exposed to flames for too long. Treating its forefoot to a fiery red to orange gradient , the jet-black speckling extends towards the silver metallic Under Armour branding placed along the mid-foot while orange and grey tones collect throughout the heel and tongue’s branded embellishments.
Scheduled to release next Sunday, April 1st at UA Brand Houses and online retailers, in the meantime enjoy official imagery of the UA Curry 2 FloTro “Chef Curry” below.
In other news, the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Olive” releases on April 26th in women’s, toddler and pre-school sizing.
