New Balance has definitely backed away from the realm of basketball sneakers in the modern era, but that doesn’t mean that they’re not willing to do some retro referencing of those sneakers. Case in point is the return of the 1985 New Balance Worthy 740, a shoe that had the distinction of being the first ever signature model from NB. Their 2014 return, hinted at here by the team at Packer Shoes, so far seems to be staying reasonably true to the original – they’ve got the “Worthy” call out on the tongue despite the fact that relationships between him and NB got rocky in 1990.
