Stuart Weitzman has announced five new global ambassadors, including Aly Raisman, Christy Turlington, Issa Rae, Lucy Liu and Ming Xi. They will all star in the company’s upcoming campaign film, “How Lovely to Be a Woman,” which will debut Sept. 4.
An official description of the campaign reads, “A celebration of modern womanhood, the campaign intends to capture the pleasures and pressures of simply being a woman in the world today. When faced with challenges and expectations, it is inspiring how women can time and time again choose to step into their confidence and stand strong.”
The five ambassadors were selected for the unique ways in which they represent the message of the campaign and utilize their platforms to make a positive difference in the world; each woman was given a unique moniker by the brand to reflect their meaningful contributions.
Gymnast, sports commentator and author Aly Raisman is referred to as “The Athlete Advocate” for her work in abuse prevention in gymnastics; supermodel Christy Turlington is named “The Model Maternal Health Activist,” having founded the non-profit Every Mother Counts focused on safe pregnancy and childbirth for everyone; actor-writer-producer Issa Rae is called “The Modern Mogul” for her businesses across a number of industries including food, beverage, haircare, jewelry and entertainment; actress, director, producer and visual artist Lucy Liu is known as “The Nonconforming Artist” for blazing a trail for AANHPI representation in Hollywood; finally, Chinese supermodel and actress Ming Xi is given the moniker “The Balancing Beauty” for breaking molds in her busy career as she raises two children.

The campaign features women wearing footwear in an array of styles across multiple Stuart Weitzman collections. The 5050 Collection features mixed-material designs; the Stuart Collection includes pointed toes and form-fitting designs; and the Nudist Collection embraces minimalism.
“Creating stylish and comfortable shoes that empower women with strength and confidence is the cornerstone of the Stuart Weitzman brand,” said Kaisy Mae O’Reilly, senior vice president, chief marketing officer at Stuart Weitzman. “It’s an important time to stand strong as a woman, so we have carefully chosen our new global ambassadors as they embody this strong feminine spirit in their own unique ways. Through their incredible lived experiences, each woman has her own story of inspiration to share, which we hope can spark confidence in women everywhere.”
The upcoming campaign film directed by Matvey Fiks includes a remix of the song “How Lovely to Be a Woman” from the 1963 musical “Bye Bye Birdie.” Meanwhile, campaign photos were shot by Ned Rogers.
