Roger Vivier has landed at Neiman Marcus Beverly Hills with a Candy Clouds pop-up through April 20.
Positioned at the entrance to the store, creative director Gherardo Felloni‘s spring ’24 collection is set among an installation of huge cotton candy-like cloud sculptures in chiaroscuro colors from orange, to pink, to purple, replicating the glow of the Californian sunset. Shiny golden legs, reminiscent of Academy Awards statuettes, peak through the clouds in an ode to Hollywood glamour, showcasing the latest spring styles in pastel patent and denim, with raffia and crystal finishes.
“There are so many heavy things around, we need to be light,” said Felloni, FN’s 2023 designer of the year, noting he started with the new Viv Canard slingback in graphic black-and-white for the season. “For me they are quintessential of lightness with the last. For every designer, this last is an obsession, everyone copies it, but it’s part of our legacy. It’s square, a little pointy, but with a slim heel.”

The installation is meant to evoke a soaring dreamscape, touching on his love for art and opera. (The designer, who is a tenor, namechecked the “Barber of Seville” as his favorite.)
L.A. is an important market for the brand and Felloni, who was last in town in December to host a dinner at an epic estate in Santa Monica with Laura Dern and Laura Brown. “The success of Roger Vivier comes from a movie so there’s a strong relation with actresses and cinema,” he said. “And the market is really important because there is high powered spending, and women enjoy wearing things in a way that’s not so rigid.”
Roger Vivier himself received the Neiman Marcus Award in 1961. The store was one of the first wholesalers of the brand, and has been selling it for more than 70 years. The installation will travel to other stores.
