Puma is bringing a burst of ’90s nostalgia into the 2020s, thanks to Ottolinger.
For the fall 2023 season, the athletic giant has teamed up with the Berlin-based fashion label for an exclusive capsule collection. The line notably hinges on Puma’s chunky Mostro boot — a style originally released in 1999 — which has been revived for the collaboration.
The updated takes on the chunky sneaker-like boots feature an array of slick colorways, complete with its signature spiked rubber soles for a punky edge.
The first style in the collection takes the form of a mid-cut sneaker, featuring tall uppers cast in black and white leather and mesh. The elastic-strapped style is given a slick pop of color from its soles, which include metallic red panels for a futuristic flair.
Adding to the line’s futuristic feel is the original Mostro style, featuring its signature knee-high silhouette and spiked soles. On this occasion, the shoe is cast in a monochrome black palette with perforated and glossy patent leather paneling. Crossed elastic straps and wraparound laces bring the style a sporty edge, while its soles include shiny red panels — just like the aforementioned sneakers — for a dark dash of color.
The final shoe in the collaboration is the same Mostro boots, given a high-shine update with a metallic gold palette. This style features both matte and perforated paneling in a shimmering hue, with a Grecian twist given from brown elastic straps and wraparound laces. The futuristic footwear is complete with its spiked soles, which are coordinatingly cast in matching brown rubber with yellow color-blocked side accents for a vibrant twist.
Within the collaboration, Puma and Ottolinger have also released a mini bag — a silhouette Ottolinger’s become known for in its accessory lineup. This style features a mirrored silver texture with an asymmetric silhouette and adjustable handle, complete with “Ottolinger” bubble lettering on its side for a spin on ’90s accessories.
The Puma x Ottolinger collaboration is currently available on Puma’s website, as well as select retailers.
