Though you may spend a pretty penny on footwear, there’s some high-priced footwear that likely reaches heights you’ve never imagined. Made of precious materials, in 2018 one pair of golden stiletto court pump shoes dubbed the Passion Diamond Shoes made history for their $17 million pierce tag.
Though they’ve since been surpassed as the priciest shoes ever created (in 2019, the $20 million Moon Star Shoes from Antonio Vietri were revealed) the Passion Diamond Shoes remain the subject of intrigue and wonder. They were first debuted and displayed at the world’s only seven-star hotel the Burj Al Arab in Dubai.
The soaring stilettos were designed by the United Arab Emirates-based brand Jada Dubai in partnership with Passion Jewelers. And this makes sense as the footwear is as much jewelry as it is anything else. The pumps are made of real gold and encrusted with hundreds of carats of rare D-flawless diamonds — there are 118 diamonds rimming each shoe. Across the vamp there are two additional 15-carat D-flawless diamonds that up the value.

The soles of the style, made of silk, are inscribed with the names of the designers: Maria Majari, co-founder of Jada Dubai, as well as Hemnant Karamchandani, CEO of Passion Jewelers. The inscription, which only boasts the names of the respective companies, is in pure gold.
“Jada Dubai designs only shoes with diamonds,” said Majari. “For the launch of our second collection, we wanted to create a piece that is truly unique in the world using very rare diamonds.”
The style is a classic stiletto-style court pump with a pointed toe and slim heel that reportedly took nine months to produce. The stiletto measures about five inches in height.
There have been on reported purchases of the style. If purchased, each pair will be made custom for the shopper. They also come with a lifetime warranty and will be replaced if the leather wears out of them.
Antonio Vietri’s “Moon Star Shoes,” which are currently the most expensive footwear, include solid gold and diamonds as well. In addition, the sandals include rare meteorite materials.
