Kerry Washington arrived at the Michael Kors Spring 2025 presentation on Sept. 10 channeling her inner Olivia Pope — but with a hint of flirty flair. The “Scandal” actress wore a chic suit with black patent leather pumps, showcasing the timeless quality of the popular footwear style.
Washington modeled a summertime take on a pantsuit for the fashion show on Tuesday. She wore a black monochrome set featuring a classic blazer and dress shorts that hit just above the knee. The “UnPrisoned” actress wore nothing underneath the jacket, which accentuated the deep V-neck formed by the crisp lapels.
The finely tailored garment narrowed at the waist to offer a feminine silhouette. Serving as a focal point of the outfit was a sparkling diamond necklace featuring a dangling strand creating a T shape.

Washington unified the formal aesthetic with a pair of patent leather black pumps boasting a pointed toe and tapered stiletto heel; the sole arched upward at a dramatic angle and curved into the heel. A touchstone style in the world of women’s footwear, the pump is regularly seen during fashion weeks, on Hollywood red carpets or in the halls of a corporate office.
In Washington’s case, a patent leather finish made the footwear more noticeable, offering a polished gleam that complemented her suit. Considered all together, her suit and pump look exuded confidence and timeless sophistication.
Michael Kors offers a myriad of black pumps, from the Amara patent leather pair to the Frankie crocodile embossed option to the Winona leather pump.
Washington was just recently at the US Open wearing a pair of brown leather pumps, which she paired with white shorts, a brown belt and a navy button down. Promoting her Hulu series “UnPrisoned” this summer, she was out in New York wearing neutral colored pumps with an Oscar de la Renta dress in a striking shade of green.
The actress also showed up at the Democratic National Convention in August to show her support for Kamala Harris, making a fashion statement in a crocheted white ensemble and neutral pumps.
