Church’s and Miu Miu have joined forces again. This time they updated the British footwear brand’s signature Shanghai loafer for spring 2024.
The monk strap shoe, which dates back to 1929, has been reinterpreted countless times over the years. Now, in partnership with Miu Miu, Church’s gave the style a new design combining the spirit of youthfulness with refined heritage.
Designed to feel formal and informal all at once, the Church’s x Miu Miu Shanghai combines aged leather in a warm shade of walnut brown and a summery linen fabric in a contrasting cream hue. It features traditional perforated wingtip broguing with curled fringe, a silver buckle and a subtly softer, rounder silhouette. The collaboration is complete with Miu Miu’s distinct branding on the oversized tongue, midsole and footbed.
The shoe originally debuted on the catwalk during Miu Miu’s spring ’24 runway show during Paris Fashion Week last fall. Campaign images released on Wednesday show the shoes modeled on a striped chaise lounge, with models sporting preppy outfits.
Taking approximately 500 steps to create, Church’s Shanghai is renowned for being an artisanal tour de force. Each shoe is considered unique. The Church’s x Miu Miu style retails at $1,520 and is available at miumiu.com.
This is the second time both brands have worked together. The Church’s x Miu Miu collaboration for fall 2023 saw the launch of a double monk strap shoe in walnut brown leather and a classic black leather brogue dress shoe.
