Celebrities have turned some impressive footwear looks during the 81st Venice Film Festival.
The annual film fest is held every year in Venice to highlight upcoming films and television. Each year, the festival gathers a crowd of glitzy movie royalty, fostering excitement for movies that debut there. This year’s attendees have not disappointed thus far, including the likes of Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie, Antonio Banderas, Monica Bellucci, Winona Ryder, Michael Keaton, Jenna Ortega and Cate Blanchett. Films and shows that have been selected to show at the festival include “Babygirl,” “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” “The Brutalist,” “The Room Next Door,” “Disclaimer” and “Stranger Eyes,” among a slew of others.

Nicole Kidman “Babygirl” Photocall
Embracing the warm weather in Venice, Kidman slipped into a pair of Bottega Veneta Cha-Cha mules in white. The pair were exceptionally sculptural, featuring peep-toes and tapered block heels standing at around 3.9 inches. Crafted of white leather calfskin, the silhouette was extra glossy. Rubber-injected leather soles rounded out the set, providing a non-slip feel. Retailing for $950, the designer style also comes in black for those looking for a classic less-adventurous footwear moment.
Kidman paired her sculptural mules with a black maxi dress, also from Bottega Veneta featuring a plunging neckline and voluminous sleeves.
Angelina Jolie “Maria” Red Carpet
Gracing the star-studded event, the “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” star sported a pair of lofty Aquazzura Sundance Plateau 140 platform sandals. Retailing for $950, the gilded pair featured textural striped embossing, high-shine metallic gold uppers and thick crisscrossing straps that sat overtop Jolie’s toes, securing the silhouette in place. Additional details included peep-toes, adjustable buckle closures and peep toes.
Similarly dramatic, Jolie wore a tan gown by Tamara Ralph featuring intricate draping. The gown was layered beneath a fur shawl featuring a gold brooch fastened to it.
Nicole Kidman “Babygirl” Red Carpet
Going the classic route, Kidman attended the red carpet premiere of “Babygirl” in black suede pumps. Fixed with traditional elements like sharp pointed toes, arched soles and 2 to 3-inch stiletto heels, the footwear pick is a stellar one. The silhouette creates a neutral base in order to point the spotlight on Kidman’s dress.
Speaking of her dress, the Australian thespian was styled in a striking one from Schiaparelli’s fall 2024 couture collection. The gown included a sculptural tan corsetted bodice freckled with black and clear beads that transitioned into a pencil-esque floor-length skirt.
Cate Blanchett
Promoting her new Apple TV+ show “Disclaimer,” Blanchett attended the festival in ankle-length Gianvito Rossi booties. The designer pair featured textural suede uppers in black, breathable peep toes and four-inch heels. The style also included a unique low-cut vamp that revealed the top of the foot. Sharp and sophisticated, the footwear choice paired well with her dramatic crushed velvet jumpsuit from Giorgio Armani.
Cate Blanchett “Disclaimer” Photocall
Blanchett continued her streak of giving sharp and timeless looks on the carpet wearing a pair of Giorgio Armani Black Asymmetric Pumps during a photocall for “Disclaimer” during the 81st Venice International Film Festival at on Aug. 29. She paired the pumps with a standout polka dot pantsuit from Moschino.
Taylor Russell “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” Red Carpet
The actress walked the red carpet in a pair of white Christian Louboutin pumps. The elegant silhouette featured striking pointed toes, white matte leather uppers and 2 to 3-inch stiletto heels.
Taylor stunned again in vintage Galliano
Taylor turned heads when she arrived at an event during the festival wearing an archival piece of fashion. The star wore a gray vintage jacket and skirt from John Galliano with a pair of sheer heels that strap up the ankle from Gianvito Rossi.
Jenna Ortega stuns thanks to endless “Beetlejuice” inspiration
Jenna Ortega paid homage to Lydia Deetz’ red wedding gown from the original “Beetlejuice,” with a sheer cutout Christian Dior dress. She paired the look with sky-high Jimmy Choo peep-toe platform heels. While they were barely visible under the floor length skirt, the sheer material allowed for the shoes to peek through as she moved through the carpet.
