Supreme and Sorel have announced their first-ever collaboration, and the occasion is calling for a hearty winter boot.
The Supreme x Sorel Caribou Boot decks out one of the Portland-based brand’s core boots in two colorways with street appeal. Available in either camo or all-black, Supreme’s take on the Caribou Boot adds the New York City streetwear brand’s box logo hangtag to the heel stitching. Co-branding sees the Sorel bear sit atop the box logo in debossing beneath the collar, and leather replaces the suede typically used for the upper.
Otherwise, Supreme leaves the Caribou boot as is. Sealed seems delivers waterproofing, while insulation comes in the form of synthetic shearling. The inner felt boot can be removed for washing, and a vulcanized rubber shell sole provides grip in heavy snow.
Sorel’s boots are already a staple in après settings, but partnering with Supreme signals a desire to court the streetwear crowd. It’s also collaborated with the Massachusetts-based sneaker boutique Concepts a handful of times, but the the space still remains relatively uncharted territory.
Should it not be a one-off, the collaboration could mark the beginnings of a new go-to boot maker for Supreme. Because VF Corp. recently sold off Supreme, rumors have suggested the brand will cease collaborations with its former sister brands in Timberland, The North Face and Vans — despite the relationships predating them being under the same umbrella.
The Supreme x Sorel Caribou Boot will release Thursday, December 12, through Supreme’s website and physical stores. Pricing has not yet been confirmed, but the Caribou Boot typically retails for $200.
