Salehe Bembury‘s Croc sneaker will soon get its second drop.
The Salehe Bembury x Crocs Juniper “Tahini” will release in September as the second colorway for the brand’s first-ever sneaker. This iteration strips away the color from the model’s debut, as an all-white mesh and neoprene sits above the gum upper that gives the colorway its name. Branding, including a hangtag inspired by Crocs‘ hanger, arrives in green to match the insole.
For the Juniper “Tahini” wear test campaign, Bembury tapped German-Japanese climber Emi Matsushima.
Crocs tapped Bembury to make its debut sneaker following the success of his Pollex line, which also made him the first outside designer to create original molds for a Crocs collaboration. The Juniper continues the use of a fingerprint-shaped sole that’s been a through-line for his Crocs silhouettes and a continuing motif in his broader design career.
Watch on FN
Prior to the addition of the Juniper, as well as the Saru model hybridizing the Classic Clog, Bembury and Crocs were recognized with the Collection of the Year at the 2023 FN Achievement Awards. Speaking of when he was first told he could create a new mold, Bembury said in a feature story for the award, “I immediately did the Grinch smile and Birdman hand rub and said yes.”
Puma recently announced a new partnership with Bembury that will see him design a signature basketball sneaker for the brand. He also has two unreleased New Balance sneakers in the pipeline, a 991v2 and a 530 with a fingerprint “N” logo that he gave away last week during an event in Copenhagen.
The Salehe Bembury x Crocs Juniper “Tahini” sneaker will release September 5. Further release details haven’t yet been revealed, but the shoe will likely release through some combination of Crocs’ website, Bembury’s Be a Spunge website and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $140.
