Puma’s relaunched Mostro sneaker is about to get two jolts of ecstasy.
The shoe celebrating its 25th anniversary will release this week in neon “Pink Delight” and “Ignite Blue” colorways to form the Ecstasy pack. Both versions of the sneaker are rendered monochromatically in their namesake colors, as the highlighter hues grace the sneakers entirely from the mesh upper down to the trademark spiked sole unit.
Puma first revived the Mostro last year, but the comeback truly began in earnest with the Y2K era sneaker taking centerstage for the brand’s New York Fashion Week show in February. Of the few colorways to release since, the Ecstasy pack easily reigns as the loudest.
Named after the Italian word for monster, the Mostro first made its debut in 1998 with its bold look inspired by running spikes from the ’60s and surf shoes from the ’80s. The model peaked in popularity in the early ’00s and was widely adopted by the fashion crowd long before such crossovers became more commonplace. Its design stands out just as much today as it did in its original run, and it’s now being bolstered by early-aughts aesthetics becoming trendy once again.

Continuing the model’s legacy of fashion appeal, the Puma Mostro Ecstasy “Pink Delight” and “Ignite Blue” will release this Saturday, March 23, through boutiques including Ssense, End. Clothing and Slam Jam. Pricing is set at $155.
