As the alma matter of Michael Jordan, the University of North Carolina routinely sees its athletes treated to player-exclusive Air Jordans. Despite how common it is for them to be blessed up with something rare, a new player-exclusive Air Jordan 4 manages to stand out as something special.
An Air Jordan 4 PE revealed by the University of North Carolina Tar Heels basketball program features some quite luxurious flourishes. The upper is rendered entirely in Carolina blue and predominantly in suede, but the real glitz arrives in the form of gold-tone metal for the “UNC” branded lace dubraes and Jumpman logos on the tongue and heel. These raised logos also feature a crystal embedded as the basketball in Jordan’s hand, and a removable gold hangtag then features the UNC logo on one side with the Jumpman on another.
Realistically speaking, your chances of ever getting a pair are marginal — but they aren’t nonexistent. It isn’t unheard of for UNC athletes to eventually hawk their player-exclusive sneakers for a quick payday, so you’ll just have to be hawkish in your pursuit and lucky to find a match in sizing aside from being able to afford it.
A less trivial chance at purchasing a pair of Air Jordan 4s will come in May with the highly anticipated return of the original “White Cement” colorway, which is said to be more faithful in its recreation of the proportions from 1989.
