A new collection of premium limited-edition Nike Basketball sneakers is on the way featuring the brand’s top signature stars.
Known as the “Black Label” collection, the new range comprises multiple sneakers, each produced in a limited-edition number corresponding to their respective athlete’s birth year. And while nearly every pair in the pack is drumming up early interest, there are a few standouts including Sabrina Ionescu’s Nike Sabrina 2.
Special highlights that separate this “Black Label” iteration from run-of-the-mill Sabrina 2s include the addition of black velour across the eyestay and Swoosh with chenille material on the tongues, which feature a cursive “B” script on the left shoe in place of Ionescu’s usual logo. Said logos are colored in a Mint Foam shade befitting of her defending WNBA champion New York Liberty team while the Swoosh features an embroidered Coconut Milk border.
A metal “Black Label” badge appears beneath the Swoosh of the left shoe, while the right denotes the sneaker’s “1 of 1997” production run, the year Ionescu was born. Like the rest of the “Black Label” collection, the Nike Sabrina 2 will come packaged in a special black fold-out box.
But Ionescu’s sneaker is only the tip of the iceberg for the “Black Label” group. Also confirmed to be included are LeBron James’ LeBron 22, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Giannis Freak 6, two Swarovski-encrusted versions of Ja Morant’s Ja 2, Kevin Durant’s KD 18, Devin Booker’s Book 1 and the Zoom GT Hustle 3 worn by Victor Wembanyama.
Set to coincide with NBA All-Star Weekend, the full Nike Basketball “Black Label” collection is expected to launch on Feb. 14 from SNKRS and select retailers. Retail pricing for Ionescu’s Sabrina 2 is expected to be $150.
