Nike‘s “Cult Classic” series has brought back some highly coveted sneakers from the earlier days of collecting, including several Japan-exclusives from the turn of the millennium such as the Air Force 1 Low “Linen.” Another renowned Air Force 1 Low will continue the series soon, and it’s one known in particular for its high quality.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low “Escape” will be the first-ever retro for the sneaker originally released in 2005. A variety of textures define the brown, black and white sneaker, including a perforated quarter in white leather with the dots packed more closely together than on the vamp. Two shades of brown are used for the suede overlays, while the Swoosh is rendered in black to match the outsole, lining and laces. Red branding then bursts through on the mustache and black tongue tag.
One change does define the 2025 “Escape,” as the name no longer appears on the tongue tag. What does return, however, is the special silver-tone metal lace dubrae reading “AF1 ’82.”
The “Escape” colorway actually predates the 2005 release, as it goes back to an original Air Force 3 colorway of the same name from 1988. That shoe rereleased in 2005 to coincide with the Air Force 1 Low, and the “Escape” treatment also appeared on an Air Force 2 in 2003. Another Air Force 1 using the same materials but in a greyish blue, grey, black and white combo dropped in 2005 as the “Escape 2.”
More recently, Travis Scott’s Air Jordan 1 High “Mocha” released as a clear homage to the “Escape” series.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low “Escape” is expected to release this spring through the Snkrs app and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $150.
