In 2012, the same year the “Galaxy” version first touched down and caused mayhem, Nike partnered with the animated film “ParaNorman” to make an even rarer version of the Air Foamposite One. Promotional pairs were made exclusively through a social media giveaway in which fans were invited to submit their weirdest childhood photos, and the few that were made have since sold for as much as $4,000 on the resale market.
The Nike Air Foamposite One “Black Volt” is now giving you the opportunity to get a near lookalike. Releasing in March, the newer sneaker makes use of the same combo of neon green and black. The glowing accent color is used for the outsole, as well as the eyestay’s tiny Swoosh, striping on the tongue and loops, and heel branding.
Missing from the “ParaNorman” Foamposite are the green flames reaching up the molded upper, but no one said it was a one-to-one recreation. The elder shoe also spelled out “Weird Wins” across the two heel pulls, as well as featuring mismatched embroidery of the film’s namesake character and the Swoosh directly beneath.
Mismatching can be found, however, on the “Black Volt” via the insoles. The left shoe is rendered in “Volt” green with the Penny logo, while the right shoe arrives in black with a “Nike Air” mark.
The Nike Air Foamposite One “Black Volt” will release March 14 through the Snkrs app and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $240.
