It seemed like everyone was out and about this weekend hoping for a chance to pick up Nigel Sylvester’s “Brick by Brick” Air Jordan 4 Retro collaboration — and we mean everyone.
As images and videos of line-ups for Sylvester’s latest Jordan Brand collab circulate on social media, one store turned the launch into a viral moment. Spanish sneaker boutique Footdistrict shared a couple of senior shoppers whose excitement and positive energy managed to catch the attention of Sylvester himself.
A clip shared Saturday by Footdistrict shows two older women showing off the prize of the day, each unable to contain their excitement as they unbox and lace up the “Brick by Brick” Air Jordan 4s. Compared to the rest of the shoppers pictured in the Footpatrol line-up — which was predominantly younger male customers — it’s not surprising that the unexpected duo has drummed up so much attention.
To make the moment even more impressive, Footdistrict was one store that held a first come, first served release for the sneakers instead of the raffles that have become commonplace in the industry. This means that the viral customers were likely required to endure a lengthy wait in line, a testament to their dedication for the rare pair.
It doesn’t appear that the customers participated in any sort of formal interview, but a video of their excitement was reshared by Sylvester.
“Oh these golden girls had @footdistrict littt for the BRICK BY BRICK release!!,” the BMX pro wrote on Instagram.
The “Brick by Brick” Air Jordan 4 is Sylvester’s fourth Air Jordan release. The partnership began in 2018 with a pre-distressed Air Jordan 1 High and didn’t receive a widely released follow-up until 2024’s “Grandma’s Driveway” and “Driveway Gray” Air Jordan 4 RMs. Along the way, a 2018 Air Jordan 1 High “Noise Canceling Pack” colorway referenced Sylvester and he also received a friends-and-family exclusive Jordan Air Ship in 2023.
A second Air Jordan 4 collaboration with Sylvester was teased during a January reveal of the “Brick by Brick” collection. That pair features a colorway styled after the model’s original “Fire Red” colorway and is currently rumored to be released before the end of the year.
While Sylvester’s “Brick by Brick” Air Jordan 4 release has concluded, pairs can still be purchased now from resale platforms including GOAT and StockX.
