StockX has teamed up with Michael B. Jordan and sneaker artist Andu to create a pair of one-of-a-kind sneakers, with bidding starting on April 16.
“Sneakers have always been a way for me to express myself. This custom shoe brings both design and style and I’m excited to have the opportunity to release something that represents my journey as both an artist and a lover of sneakers and shoes,” Michael B. Jordan said in a statement. “Partnering with StockX made perfect sense. They’ve built a reputation for bringing exclusive, collectible items to a passionate community that I consider myself a part of.”
The singular shoes, known as the Michael B. Jordan “Smoke & Stack” Juke Low sneakers, will hit StockX in celebration of Jordan’s upcoming movie “Sinners,” which is slated for theatrical release on April 18. Beginning April 16 at noon ET, interested customers can place a $1 USD bid on StockX for a chance to own the sneakers, which are a size U.S. men’s 10. Bidding will be open for a time period of 48 hours and each participant can only submit one entry; they will be charged only if they win, and a winning bidder will be selected randomly. The United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany and France are all eligible countries.
An official description of the special shoes reads, “Inspired by ‘Sinners’ — which is best described as part of the supernatural horror genre — the custom Michael B. Jordan ‘Smoke & Stack’ Juke Low sneaker showcases the intricate craftsmanship that reflects the light and dark elements of human nature. The silhouette embodies the essence of Jordan’s characters, Smoke and Stack.”
The description continues, “Designed by Andu, the sneaker features detailed elements that capture the contrasts of good vs. evil, light vs. dark, and salvation vs. damnation, perfectly aligning with the film’s themes. This exclusive pair isn’t just footwear; it’s wearable art, and one lucky StockX user will claim this unholy grail – one that, aside from the winner, only Michael B. Jordan himself owns.”
“This collaboration represents more than just a sneaker drop – it’s a celebration of culture, creativity, and the unique intersection of film, fashion, and artistry,” said Jerry Gaines, StockX’s senior director of brand marketing, in a statement. “At StockX, we’re committed to offering our customers access to the most coveted products, and this custom sneaker is a perfect example of the exclusive offerings we bring to the community. We’re honored to partner with Michael B. Jordan and Andu to give our customers the chance to own a piece of cinema history – something they won’t find anywhere else.”
The unique shoes are black with a foldover tongue, a blue and red stripe design and a lug sole. The shoes are created in collaboration with Andu, who, among many projects, has previously customized Air Jordan 4s for J Balvin to complement his album “Rayo.”
“Creating the ‘Smoke & Stack’ Juke Low sneaker was an exciting opportunity to blend the complexity of Michael B. Jordan’s characters with the themes of light and darkness central to Sinners. This custom design combines two uniquely recognized silhouettes, sports cleats and Tabi oxfords. It was important to capture the contrasts in the two characters and thoughtfully craft this to reflect the dualities within us all,” Andu said in statement. “Releasing this on StockX seemed like a natural choice. The platform has become synonymous with exclusive drops and rare collectibles, making it the perfect home for a sneaker as special as this one. Plus, knowing Michael himself owns the only other pair adds an extra layer of significance for fans.”
Reuniting with director Ryan Coogler for “Sinners,” Jordan stars as twin brothers who return to their hometown in an effort to leave behind their troubles — only to realize a greater evil is present there. Hailee Steinfeld is one of his co-stars (and she has been out and about wearing a slew of stylish outfits amid promotion of the film.)
When he isn’t showing off his sneaker game, Jordan might be modeling high fashion formal footwear. He recently went on the “Sherri” show for instance, wearing dress shoes from Jacquemus which featured a woven design on the upper. And at the premiere for “Sinners,” he showcased the Tabi Chelsea boot from Maison Margiela, which features the brand’s famous cloven toe.
