LeBron James isn’t in action during Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game — the 22-year veteran is dealing with ankle and foot pain — but we do know what sneakers he was planning to wear if he had played.

On the official @NBAKicks social media accounts, James revealed one of the Nike LeBron 22 sneakers he would’ve worn as a member of the Shaq’s OGs team alongside fellow NBA veterans Jaylen Brown, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, Damian Lillard and Jayson Tatum.

“These are my ‘Captain Planet’ 22s,” James said. “For anybody who remembers that cartoon, ‘Captain Planet,’ that’s what these is.”

The sneakers are a colorful execution of James’ 22nd Nike signature sneaker which are predominantly red and light blue with accents of black, yellow and green.

Compared side-by-side with the 1990s superhero, the shoes are a perfect match and feature unique details including a squiggle drawing inside the Swoosh logo and James’ number 23 at the medial side. The colors of James’ “Captain Planet” Nike LeBron 22s were also a near-match to the light blue Shaq’s OGs jerseys.

Also at James’ locker was his “Black Label” LeBron 22 and another bright blue and volt green colorway, but the star did not elaborate on the theme of the latter pair.

The colors and animation-inspired design of “Captain Planet” LeBron 22 are reminiscent of some of James’ past sneakers, namely his Family Guy-themed “Stewie Griffin” LeBron 6 and LeBron 18 Low designs.

Sunday is the first time James has been selected but won’t play in an NBA All-Star Game. Had he played tonight, it would have been his 21st consecutive time starting in the midseason match-up.

It’s unlikely that the Nike LeBron 22 “Captain Planet” will be released to the public. However, fans shouldn’t rule out seeing James lace up the special pair at some point before the season is over.
