In addition to a yet-to-be-announced New Balance 993 collaboration, Montreal moodboard/creative agency JJJJound is reconnecting with Adidas on one of the sportswear brand’s most timeless sneakers.

Although not officially previewed by the Justin Saunders-led brand as of yet, a previously unseen JJJJound x Adidas Superstar surfaced Tuesday in women’s sizing via e-commerce platform Ssense.

It’s likely the retailer released the sneaker collaboration prematurely, although Ssense doesn’t appear to be particularly hurried to rectify it; nearly 24 hours after appearing on the site, almost every size has already sold out.

The JJJJound x Adidas Superstar comes in an “Off-White/Core Black” style and follows the color story established on the duo’s March collaboration on the Samba silhouette. Like that pair, the Superstar is manufactured in Adidas’ home country, Germany, and features a white-and-black color palette with a contrasting tan liner. The Samba sneaker was also offered in a black-based colorway, but it’s not yet confirmed if another Superstar will be released alongside this pair.

Using the retro-informed Superstar 82 model as its base, JJJJound has constructed the shoe in what Ssense describes as buffed leather with a poplin lining. Branding is kept sparse — even the Superstar’s signature heel logo has been removed — with “JJJJound” text in metallic gold foil on the lateral side. The Superstar does not traditionally feature metallic branding, however the callout is present on many of Adidas’ retro shoes.

The Superstar sneaker has been in the spotlight recently. In October, popular Adidas collaborator Wales Bonner put its spin on the shoe, covering the Superstar in croc material.

Like the previous link-up on the Samba, the JJJJound x Adidas Superstar 82 comes at a premium price of $250 (standard versions of the Superstar 82 retail at $120). For readers who missed out on the early launch via Ssense, the pair is expected to receive a formal release from JJJJound and Adidas soon.
