Following the debut of their three-way collaboration in 2022, Jean Paul Gaultier, Sacai, and Nike are reuniting for two more versions of the mash-up Vaporwaffle sneaker.

As a departure from last year’s LDVaporwaffle, which featured a mid-ish cut, this collaboration features the Vaporwaffle in its low-top form from previous Sacai x Nike collaborations. What Jean Paul Gaultier brings to the occasion is a woven treatment akin to what we’ve seen on Nike Free sneakers in the past. This texture is rendered subtly in a white and silver colorway and then stands out much more in a multi-color variant featuring a patchwork-like upper.

Having made its debut in 2020, Sacai’s Nike Vaporwaffle is a mash-up of the first Pegasus from 1983 and the contemporary Vaporfly that’s been a fixture on major marathon podiums. Two sole units are stacked on top of each other with a concave lip at the heel, and there are also double-tongues as continuity from other Sacai x Nike sneakers.

Watch on FN

Jean Paul Gaultier’s second turn with Sacai and Nike immediately appears more wearable than its first, which didn’t make as much as noise as you might expect from an iconic label making its Nike debut. JPG is deeply connected to streetwear as a philosophy, if not as a culture, and naturally lends itself to an eccentric sneaker that can be worn casually.

The Jean Paul Gaultier x Sacai x Nike Vaporwaffles will release Nov. 22 exclusively through the label’s website. Pricing has yet to be confirmed, but more details should arrive as we get closer to the drop date.
