Pre-distressed sneakers are a complicated beast. While many athletic shoes tend to look better with age, it doesn’t apply to every model, and it can be easy to overdo the worn-in effect, alienating fans of the original silhouette in the process. For its latest project with Adidas Originals, Taiwanese retailer Invincible veered into this risky territory with one of the brand’s iconic sneakers, and ahead of the launch, the collaboration is receiving a warm reaction from consumers.
The Invincible x Adidas Consortium Handball Spezial “Terrace Redefined” will be made available in two distinctly different options: a glossy, cracked leather black adorned with the sneaker’s traditional Three Stripes branding and a white style which dons Stan Smith-like Three Stripe perforations and a stained “t-toe” overlay.
The white iteration features stained white suede heel tabs, while the black pair uses a white cracked leather. These variances aside, the two shoes also share many similarities. Their gum rubber soles have been given a patina effect, while the shape of the eyestays and t-toe overlays are cut in irregular shapes. Both pairs also feature wax shoelace tips, leather liners and insoles and gold foil Spezial branding on their lateral sides. Meanwhile, collapsible heels give the wearer the option to wear the sneakers as slip-ons.
Raffles for the Invincible x Adidas Consortium Handball Spezial “Terrace Redefined” pack are open now from Invincible and will end April 11. They’re priced at 4,890 TWD each, which converts to around $148.76 as of publishing but could likely end up higher for stateside buyers due to President Donald Trump’s tariffs.
The black colorway is exclusive to Invincible, while the white style will be released globally on April 19 at select Adidas Originals stores and from the Confirmed app. Ahead of the launch, readers can find a full look at the collaboration below.
