EQL, the digital platform widely used for sneaker releases, has introduced a new feature that will increase the odds of landing a coveted pair of kicks — provided you’re willing to accept a different size than you’d usually wear.
Those who subscribe to EQL+ will now be allowed to select an alternative size in the case that their original choice isn’t available. If you’re a men’s size 9, for example, you could opt in for the opportunity to purchase a size 8.5 as your second option.
The EQL+ paid membership program costs $3.99 per month and allows you to forgo the “Run Fair” fee normally charged to EQL raffle winners for each sneaker purchased. The subscription will also hold your product for at least 15 minutes if you’ve won a raffle but your payment was declined, giving you time to address the matter and not lose out over a possible error.
Since launching in 2021, EQL has become widely used by retailers to handle high-profile sneaker launches. It’s mission is to make drawings “Run Fair” by enlisting measures to weed out bots and eliminate double-entries, and the use of a single platform by disparate retailers allows users make their entries quickly via saved information. Many retailers also chose to give users increased odds of winning the next drawing should they have missed out on the last.
